MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN -- World-class craft brews in a vintage 5th Ward warehouse makes Milwaukee Brewing Co. an up-and-coming Milwaukee establishment. Seeking to develop a strong neighborhood presence for their existing warehouse production facility, Rinka Chung Architecture proposed to take the energy and character of the production facility and express it on the exterior façade.
By carving an entry court out of the existing building and then inserting a giant, functional grain hopper, the building engages the street edge and displays its core identity. Façade details express the character of the neighborhood by incorporating custom steel awnings, a riveted steel truss, and vintage inspired ribbon painted signage.
Inside, Rinka Chung Architecture planned the brewery tour experience, designing new features including an elevated catwalk, “beer me” stops (also known as mini-bars), a specialty tasting room, brewpub, and patio/all-seasons addition.
